  • Better than I could have hoped for

I’ve never written a review here before, but Shudder deserves one. After working through every horror movie on Netflix, I decided to give this a go. I had heard about Shudder for a long time, but after hearing it called “the Netflix of horror” on the podcast “Let’s Not Meet”, I was in. It’s got movies I’ve never heard of, gory 80’s movies, and classics! Couldn’t be happier with Shudder.
  • Beautiful selection of horror with an awesome platform

I spent an hour combing through their library adding titles to my list. I probably won’t even be able to get through all of it in a month. Not to mention they keep adding new titles. I love the way they have channels running that simulate live TV channels. I love the collections of curated horror that is put into creative genres. I love their original content and the fundamental horror that is collected through decades. Just wow, very impressed. They also have a great subreddit that the Shudder staff is active on. I highly recommend checking this out!

  • Perfect

Excellent selection whether you’re looking for something to have playing in the background or if you’re trying to actually sit and watch. Truly a must-have app for horror freaks, cult weirdos and science fiction nerds. Best streaming service I’m currently subscribed to. Worth every penny!
  • Love the service, the app not so much

I want to preface by saying I think Shudder and the movies and shows they provide/make are fantastic. I have no complaints about that and love that they cycle new movies in on a regular basis. However the app needs some work. Picking and choosing a movie works just fine but multiple times once you start the movie the app will not flip to a horizontal view if you are watching on mobile. I have to close the app out and open again and sometimes the problem still occurs where it will lock in a vertical position and not flip to horizontal when I attempt to do so

    Is it free
  • About to drop Netflix...

...because all I watch is Shudder for less than half the price...and unlike Netflix, Shudder is constantly improving, constantly adding new titles, from big mainstream blockbusters to obscure titles I haven’t seen in decades. Better, they actually do pay attention to their title request forms. I know because they have obtained more than two dozen of my requests, most of which were not widely known or readily available...too many and too quickly fulfilled to be coincidence. Also, very quick, very polite customer support. I host a horror podcast, so I watch a minimum of 3-4 horror movies a week. True, I sometimes turn to Amazon Prime or one of the free streaming services like Tubi or Popcornflix, but 90% of the time, my go-to is Shudder. Is there a catch? If you’re deaf, yes. They still have a ways to go on captioning their films. They’ve come a long way to accomplishing this, but they need to target 100% compliance. My 5-star is a good faith vote in that I have seen such a big improvement over the past couple of years that I believe they will...sooner than later, I’m hoping. Besides that the only thing I worry about is when they realize they are way-undercharging for their services and hike their rates. Yes. They’re that good. If you love horror, there is no reason not to pay the equivalent of a cheaper Starbucks coffee for an entire month of more horror than anybody could possibly watch...even me.
  • Pretty awesome

It’s like the Netflix of horror movies. It brings me back to the days of Billy Joe Bob Briggs with the classic horror movies.
  • No subtitles?

Why, why, why, why, why have you not fixed this? Hire a team, do what you have to do. It’s completely absurd that you cant figure this out, it’s 2019, get it done for God’s sake.
